Family Af-Ayr Farm is located in Caledonia, IL. The farm was started by Gregg and Patricia Borchardt in 1981. In 1988 the farm was moved to its current location. Since then many changes have been made. The original 34 stanchions were converted to tie stalls. In 1991 an additional 20 tie stalls were added on. In 2005 two compost barns were built to house milk cows, dry cows, and heifers. The milk cows are bedded with sawdust and the pack is airated twice a day and the dry cows and heifers are bedded with straw. All milk cows and bigger heifers are fed TMR, younger heifers and calves are fed a grain /protein mix and free choice hay. The newborn to weaning age calves are housed in hutches and are bedded with straw. We currently have 130 milk cows and about 200 dry cows and heifers. The cows are milk twice a day in the stall barn. The farm is currently owned by Gregg, Patricia, and Luke Borchardt and all members of the family do their part to help.
